STANLEY N. NKOSI
VISIONARY AND INSPIRATION
The late Mr Stanley Nqobizizwe Nkosi believed in justice and equality for all to live in a free society. These beliefs led to his joining the ANC’s underground operations and later his 10 year incarceration on Robben Island. A political educator, lawyer and astute business man, Stanley, also help mold and nurture young minds to equip them for leadership roles and to preserving knowledge and heritage .
When democracy was established in South Africa, in the public sector he served South Africa as a Deputy Director-General for the Department of Land Affairs and Agriculture, Secretary of the Gauteng Legislature and Provincial Electoral Officer at the Independent Electoral Commission as well as being non-executive Chairman of the Johannesburg Development Agency.
His mission was to advance human dignity and self-worth and empowerment. This University of Zululand alumni served his country and fellow South Africans until he took his last breathe and his legacy lives on through the works of his wife, Daphne Mashile –Nkosi and their family.
A dynamic business woman and social activist, Mrs Daphne Mashile-Nkosi is the sitting Chairperson of Kalagadi Manganese (Pty) Ltd and she has founded several companies in South Africa of which she is a shareholder and board member.
Mrs Nkosi’s passion lies in the rights and empowerment of women. To this end she has worked for the National Movement of Rural Women, as well as a community facilitator and loans officer for the Women’s Development Bank, training and mentoring mostly rural women on financial literacy and how to generate their own income.
Detained by the Apartheid Government for her role as an activist, Daphne has fought hard to be where she is now and continues to advocate women empowerment and self-reliance in South Africa.
To date, she has ensured that at least 70% of the shareholders of Kalagadi Manganese are women and continues to make a difference in the lives of women, and in turn their families.
Mrs Nkosi’s business leadership has been recognised countless times and her most recent awards are:
